The Hilmer Homestead is a multi-generational property in La Mesa, designed to support both connection and independence for a young family of four.

The mid-century modern main residence, rich in walnut tones and natural light, centers around an expansive great room where the kitchen flows seamlessly into the dining and family spaces, opening to the outdoors through large sliding doors.

Set across the yard, the newly constructed ADU houses the children’s grandparents and offers a softer, transitional expression through white oak and muted green cabinetry. Distinct yet cohesive, the two structures create a layered home designed to evolve over time.
