About La Côte Design

La Côte Design is a full-service San Diego interior design studio specializing in luxury new construction and bespoke remodels. Our studio is based in Southern California, serving clients from the coastal communities of Coronado, Del Mar, and La Jolla to the estates of Rancho Santa Fe and Orange County. Our comprehensive design services are available nationwide for the right project.

We bring a California Modern lens to every environment, whether we are reimagining a Spanish Revival in Point Loma or overseeing a whole home renovation in San Clemente. By taking on a select number of projects each year, we ensure a seamless, well-managed experience that results in a home that is deeply considered, highly personal, and lived in.

Meet Nicole Gouthro

founder and principal designer

Nicole’s work is a thoughtful balance between spatial planning and the art of curation. With a foundation in architectural design, she approaches each project with both creativity and clarity, ensuring every idea is not only beautiful, but grounded in how it will actually be built and lived in. After nearly a decade working on new construction and renovations, she founded La Côte to bring together technical expertise with a more personal, lifestyle-driven approach.

At the core of the studio is a sense of ease. Whether guiding a full home build or reworking a kitchen, Nicole takes the time to understand how you live, what matters to you, and how you want your home to feel. She brings a calm, steady presence to the process, helping simplify decisions and create spaces that feel layered, natural, and truly reflective of you, homes designed to support everyday life in a way that feels effortless and considered.

La Côte translates to ‘the coast’ a reflection of Nicole’s French Canadian heritage and the California coast she now calls home.

The name evokes the quiet elegance of Coastal Mediterranean living and the effortless ease of life by the water. To us, it represents a design philosophy rooted in heritage, travel, and a deep appreciation for the enduring beauty of natural materials.
