Designing a Coastal Bungalow as a Calm, Meaningful Sanctuary

Downsizing and major life events often bring an opportunity to design with great intention.

The Bungalow on Coronado Island was thoughtfully planned to feel calm, comforting, and deeply personal.

The design and space plan focused on creating a light-filled home that feels tidy and easy to live in. Natural materials and soft tones establish a sense of warmth, while layered textures add quiet depth throughout the space. Inspired by New Zealand interiors, the home embraces simplicity and restraint. Rather than leaning on trends, the focus remained on timeless materials and thoughtful details that would age beautifully over time.

Every element was chosen with care, allowing the home to feel calm, settled, and supportive.

The Coronado Bungalow embodies how design can create a sense of sanctuary, offering both beauty and warmth during a new chapter.
